BONNY HILLS SURF TRIP Friday/Sat 12th-13th October 2019
All Girls Surfriders were very well represented this year, with 11 current and former members; Mel, Maz, Kerry, Jan, Carol, Caz, Liz, Trish, Ebony, Marika and Marg all enjoying a fun weekend and challenging surf.
We almost filled the over 55 longboard division with Maz, Mel, Jan, Liz, Caz, Carol and Marg all competing. Mel took out 1st place closely followed by Maz 2nd. Liz and Jan made the final as well.
Mel usually only surfs her SUP, but can get on a longboard and absolutely rip. Maz shows us what one can achieve by surfing every day in all conditions. Well done girls!
Trish Giltinan (ex president) 5th in the mini-mal Final over18 ( just a wee bit over)
Ebony came 5th in open shortboard in a hotly contested field.
The waves and paddle out were very challenging, so well done to all competitors.
Check out Ebony’s pics of Mel and Maz on AG website.
The Saturday night entertainment was up to the usual All Girls standard with a hula dancing/singing performance to “Pearly Shells” accompanied by Kerry, Maz, Ebony and Marika on the ukuleles. Lots of laughter, with some very serious hula dancing by Jan and Liz.
Some of us have been travelling to this contest for 10 years and it really is a wonderful bonding weekend. We share a house and all have a great time. All are welcome and there are divisions for all ages and levels.
Congratultions to the MNCGS – they put on an amazing contest and are so welcoming and nurturing of all the contestants…”it’s not always about winning” and everyone gets to surf at least twice.
I (Marg) have to say that All Girls has been (and is) the most amazing club. All the friends I have now have come through surfing and the club.
So together we’ll keep the spirit of All Girls and the joy of surfing alive for many years to come.
